Hotel AKA Patagonia, Puerto Natales

In Puerto Natales, in the Patagonian region of glaciers, volcanoes, and mountains, the cabins designed by the Chilean architect Pablo Larroulet pursue the idea of a meeting of landscape and architecture, but also a contrast. The complex presents seven timber volumes. One of them harbors communal uses, including a kitchen. The rest contain guest rooms. The ageing of the material will dilute the construction's visual impact on nature. Strategically positioned to optimize views and natural lighting, the broken volumes are raised on poles to minimize their footprint on the ground.
