About
The Canarian practice of Evelyn Alonso Rohner and José Antonio Sosa has turned a 1960s industrial warehouse on Gran Canaria island into a multipurpose facility. The original structure of relatively short spans, slender pillars, and beams is left exposed, forming a hypostyle space. Elements are added to this grid to enhance the feel of an unobstructed hall and the effect of visual elongation. The undulating partitions of translucent polycarbonate strike a contrast with the existing concrete frame. The office cubicles are laid out along the floor, with patios breaking the flow and letting sunlight in.
