Teahouse in Fuzhou

About

Inspired by the Jinshan Temple nearby, this teahouse harbors within it the structure of a high-ranking Qing dynasty official’s residence, relocated from Anhui to its new home in Fuzhou with its ornamental carvings and intricate joinery intact. The Relic Shelter, as it is called, a work of the Shanghai practice of Lyndon Neri and Rosanna Hu, sits on a concrete base, while its sweeping metal roof, penetrated by sky wells, echoes the historical piece contained within.
