About
In 2019, the Slovenian firm Dimnikcobau called an international design competition for the DCB Montana business center in the industrial zone of Moste, in Ljubljana. The Barcelona studio BAX won it with a project that involved three buildings, an existing one and two new constructions, all with a central atrium. The tallest, DCB Montana, was completed in phase one. The ten-story building with a structure of concrete and steel has a distinctive rhomboidal floor plan. A central foyer has a vertical atrium crowned with a skylight, and large windows on two facades that bring more daylight in and give panoramic views of the Slovenian capital and the Alps beyond. DCB Montana contains 12,000 square meters above ground and 8,000 under for parking on three basement levels. At ground level are a restaurant, a café, meeting rooms, and a multipurpose events venue. The nine stories above harbor offices that are modular, adaptable to needs, while the central atrium organizes circulations and encourages interaction.
