About
In a forgotten corner of Bucharest’s urban fabric, a small architectural intervention has garnered attention for its daring and precision. Named ‘The Chapel,’ the Rumanian firm Vinklu’s project for the local chain Boiler Coffee occupies an exceptionally narrow residual plot on the street Bazilescu. The building stands out for its emphatic triangular shape, tall and pointed, which makes for much interior volume despite a small base. This solution not only enhances visual dynamism, but also optimizes daylight shining in, thanks to a high-performance triple-glass façade. Much of the café’s steel structure was prefabricated off-site, allowing quick assemblage. Corrugated metal was used for the exterior cladding, while the interior, covered with light-toned ash wood paneling, presents a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
